Hamilton,
Jr. Excited About Daytona Beach and 2008 Season
New sponsor, new number, same determination for veteran NASCAR Nationwide
Series driver Bobby Hamilton, Jr. The Greenbrier, TN resident enters
the 2008 season with longtime Team Rensi Motorsports marketing partner,
Smithfield Foods on the side of his Ford Fusion. Also new for Hamilton
this season, a return to the No. 25. After piloting the No. 35 for
Team Rensi Motorsports last season, Hamilton jumped at the opportunity
to place the familiar No. 25 back on his car. Hamilton won five
races for Team Rensi Motorsports in the No. 25 from 2002-2003.
“I am so excited about this season,”
said Hamilton. “I really believe we have everything in place
to compete with the top teams in the series. Smithfield Foods has
stepped up to become our primary sponsor and I can’t wait
to climb into the No. 25 Smithfield Foods Ford Fusion on Saturday
afternoon.”
Hamilton has spent the off season focusing on this
new opportunity and says he feels more excited about 2008 than any
prior season.
“After working hard on building our team last
year and finishing sixth in points, it’s exciting for 2008
to arrive,” Hamilton said. “I am thrilled about the
opportunities Smithfield brings to our team. All winter, I have
thought about climbing behind the wheel and now it’s time
to take the green flag.”
After finishing sixth in the point’s championship
last season, Hamilton and Crew Chief Chris Wright are poised for
a strong season. The entire Team Rensi Motorsports organization
has worked hard during the off-season. Hamilton was among the fastest
cars at the Las Vegas Speedway Nationwide Series test. Those results
have given the team the final boost they needed to enter the 2008
season on a high note.
Saturday’s Camping World 300 will signal the
official start the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. With the
new sponsor, the new number and the refocused race car driver, look
for Team Rensi Motorsports to be among the top teams this season.
